My Story

Background:

I started my career in music long before real estate ever entered the picture. I earned my degree in Vocal Performance from Oakland University and had the opportunity to perform with organizations like the Michigan Opera Theatre. Later, I spent 20 years as a teacher, where I blended music, education, and a whole lot of patience into my daily life. These days, I’m a full-time real estate agent, but music has always been a through line. It’s the part of me that never clocked out.

What drew you to becoming a singer with FSA?

Joining FSA felt like coming home. After years of pouring into students and building a business, I missed the collaboration, the challenge, and that magical moment when a group of voices locks in and creates something bigger than any one person. Festival Singers offered that, plus a community of people who care about the music and each other. I also have a great appreciation for Dr. Keith Walker and his conducting, experience, and artistry. His philosophical approach to directing is something special. He has a way of drawing out artistry in every singer while still honoring each person’s responsibility to show up as a prepared, professional musician. That balance is rare, and it’s a big part of what makes the experience so meaningful.

What keeps you coming back?

The people, first and foremost. There’s something special about being in a room with talented, dedicated musicians who also know how to laugh and not take themselves too seriously. And then there’s the music itself. It still gives me that same spark it always has. No matter how busy life gets, this is the place where I get to breathe a little deeper and be fully present.

What is your vision for the future of The Festival Singers of Atlanta?

I would love to see the Festival Singers continue to grow in both reach and impact. More visibility in the community, more opportunities to collaborate, and more chances to connect with audiences who may not realize how powerful choral music can be until they experience it live. I think there’s also a real opportunity to bring in new voices and new energy while still honoring the excellence and tradition that makes this group so special.

Why should someone join The Festival Singers of Atlanta?

Because it feeds a part of you that nothing else really does. It’s that rare combination of challenge, connection, and joy all in one place. You get to make beautiful, meaningful music with people who are talented, supportive, and genuinely fun to be around. It pushes you to grow as a musician, but it also gives you a place to belong. And let’s be honest, there’s nothing quite like that moment when everything clicks and the sound just soars. It’s addictive in the best way.
