Background:  

Erin Garrard is originally from Gulfport, MS. She has always had a love of music, taking piano lessons at an early age and singing in both her church and school choirs. She graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN, where she developed a love for early and Renaissance music. Some of her favorite memories during that time were volunteering through the Laurence F. Kinney Program to teach school children beginning piano and theory.

 

In 2017, Erin, along with several other members of FSA and other choirs from around the world, performed Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass in Carnegie Hall as part of Distinguished Concerts International New York’s Reflections of Peace concert. In 2024, she and several other members joined three other choirs for Voices Across the Ocean, a 2-week singing tour across Ireland. In addition to singing with the Festival Singers of Atlanta, Erin also serves on their board.

What drew you to becoming a singer with FSA?

​My good friend Katie Sadler-Stephenson was a member, and she invited me to join. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and friendly. I took a break due to working out of state, but I rejoined as soon as I could. FSA is a huge part of my life!

What keeps you coming back?

FSA is my musical creative outlet. I love the challenge of learning new music. Being able to share our music with the audience is one of the best feelings in the world.​

What is your vision for the future of The Festival Singers of Atlanta?

I hope we continue to grow! Having a few more people per voice part will allow us to do even more complex works. I also hope we continue to collaborate with composers, musicians, and even other choirs to bring the joy of music to Atlanta and beyond.​
